Help Me Build Stuff

Note: thanks to all the developers who contacted me. I’ve found some great collaborators and will tell you more about the project soon.

I’m currently looking for a developer to help me with a new personal project, and I figure since I’ve got this blog I might as well put it to use.

So here’s who I’m looking for:

  • You’re great with a server-side stack, ideally Ruby/Rails or Node.
  • You’re also be familiar with a JS framework like Knockout, Ember, Backbone, etc.
  • You know how to make those two things play nice together (cause I sure don’t).
  • You actually have some time available (none of that “nights and week-ends” stuff).
  • You’re a fan of Hacker News.

We can work together one of two ways:

  • If I can afford you, I will simply hire you as a freelancer and pay you your normal rate.
  • But if you meet my conditions, I probably can’t afford you. So instead, I will offer my design services for any project of your choosing in exchange for your coding work. Also, the thing we work on can be open-sourced.

And what is the project, you ask?

Basically, I need you to help me build something similar to Hacker News. Except better of course.

So if you’ve ever thought “Hacker News is great, but it would be even better if only it had feature X or Y”, now’s your chance to make it come true!

Although this is a personal project, I’m serious about it. I’m capable of building small-scale stuff by myself (see Patternify or The Toolbox), so I wouldn’t be asking for outside help if I didn’t think this had a lot of potential!

So get in touch (or leave a comment here with a way of reaching you) if you’re interested, of even just want more details. Looking forward to hearing from you!
